SUBSTACK ROCKS

The first thing to say is that I have had more than 4500 FB “friends” for a few years now and currently, I have about 100 free subscribers here who have shared an email address to join me in this switch.

I feel more emotionally engaged with the first 100 here than I ever felt with the 4500 on FB. I did not see that coming. I hope the number of subscribers grows way bigger because the people joining us feel much more “real” in some intangible way than they are on FB.

So, invite your friends. This is a safe place for real discussions.

Comments here are welcome and easy but they are only visible to all of us who subscribe. I welcome, more than that, I really need to hear differing points of view and to observe debates so long as people attack the issues and not each other. We should disagree about some of this stuff but we should never disrespect each other.

Frankly, I crave a good old fashioned conservative versus liberal debate whenever possible. My brain is probably wrestling with both sides anyway. That is different than a Trumpublican versus the rest of us debate. Those debates are hateful and full of lies and I can’t let that happen here.

For many good reasons, some people cannot share their inspired but possibly controversial comments anywhere on social media platforms. It could be for personal reasons or professional reasons but I always respect their situation. There is a solution for that on Substack.

If you want to comment anonymously, reply to the email that delivered my post to you and that will work as an email that comes back to me and me only. Assuming your comment is not mean-spirited or brimming with conspiracy theories, I will cut and paste your comment as a post under my name acknowledging that one of our co-readers made the contribution. I will delete the email you sent me and NEVER EVER tell anybody who provided an anonymous comment.

This is going to be so much richer than Facebook ever was. The quantity of readers does nothing for my ego but I have discovered that the QUALITY of my readers does wonderful things for my ego. I hope the comments area will make this a win for all of us.

NOTE: This post is not being shared on Facebook. Over time, fewer and fewer posts will be shared on FB. It takes awhile for the right subset of the 4700 to all figure out what I am doing so I want to keep sharing for awhile but that practice will fade away. Tell your friends to find me here if you think they will appreciate what I write and maybe add some value with their comments. Finding me on FB will be harder down the road.
